Mining Journal’s Top 20 Most Influential People in Mining 2017; Benchmark Mineral Intelligence gets honorable mention

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence received an honorable mention in Mining Journal’s annual ranking of the most influential people in the mining industry for 2017. China’s premier, Xi Jinping, claimed to top spot with US president Donald Trump, second. Meanwhile Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla, made his first appearance in the top 10 placing 7th. And it was under Elon Musk’s entry that Benchmark’s Managing Director, Simon Moores, was mentioned. “Almost as important as Musk in this space are market commentators, Simon Moores of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, Gerard Reid of Alexa Capital… expertly bridging the knowledge gap between miners and the EV supply chain,” the publication said. Battery and EV related influencers in the top 20 included: The ranking has become one of mining’s most important barometers for who influences those that fund, build and operate mines around the world. “It is policies, currencies, and commodity prices that have the greatest bearing on bottom lines,” explained Mining Journal Editor, Daniel Gleeson. “Thats why a few years back Mining Journal hatched a plan to chart those people that have a daily influence on mining’s fortunes,” he added.
